People left concerned after seeing video of YouTuber who has spent 22 days locked in dark room

People have been left extremely concerned after seeing footage of a YouTube streamer who decided to lock himself in a pitch black room for an entire month.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the weird and wonderful world of the streamer.

For those unaccustomed to the live-streaming industry, it’s typically where young content creators rake in the money via broadcasting themselves online.

The practice started with people filming themselves while playing games, but has since snowballed into people crashing supercars, losing hundreds of thousands after making bets on the US election and attempting other eye-rolling stunts.

One of those individuals is Australian streamer Norme, who is currently broadcasting himself 24/7 in a dark room.

For you and I, locking ourselves in a dark room and spending the entire month alone there sounds like torture, but for the 19-year-old streamer this was an opportunity to break a world record.

And also, you know, make content.

Surprisingly, the streamer’s 1.2 million subscribers have dutifully tuned in everyday to see how his challenge is going – and it would appear the teenager’s behaviour is starting to cause concern.

Norme began the challenge on 16 October, which means he is just over a week away from spending a month in the dark – and it would seem the decision is finally getting to him.

In a particularly concerning clip shared across social media, he can be seen rocking back and forth while taking bites out of what appears to be a door.

Now Norme is either one hell of a good actor or spending close to a month in solitary confinement has caused him to crack. Either way, the streamer’s followers are growing increasingly worried for him.

“22 days they should be beyond worried,” one person replied to the clip, while a second said: “Please tell me, bro it’s not eating the door.”

“Not smart to play around with this. Solitary is maddening,” a third added.

However, not everyone was convinced by his behaviour, with others calling the teenager out for over-exaggerating.

“He’s just attention seeking. I’ve done months in real solitary and it’s not that bad,” one unimpressed viewer replied.

Anyone familiar with the bizarre lives of streamers will know this isn’t the first time Norme has attempted to push his body to the limit either, as he previously went viral for trying to break the Guinness World Record for how long someone could stay awake. A challenge which ended with a welfare check from the police.

Working a 9-5 never sounded more appealing.

People horrified at ‘most evil’ reality show ever that locked a naked man in a room alone for an entire year

The horrifying TV show aired for four years

If you thought Takeshi’s Castle was a wild show, then you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Viewers have been left stunned after discovering the ‘most evil’ reality show ever, which has now been explored in a new Hulu film.

The Contestant follows the true story of a Japanese man who was left naked in a room for almost a year as millions of viewers watched his every move.

Since it aired, the game show has been dubbed the ‘real life The Truman Show’ – a the film that sees Jim Carey’s character unknowingly star in a massive reality TV show as a live broadcast of Truman’s every move is captured by hidden cameras.

Susunu! Denpa Shonen (translated as ‘Do Not Proceed! Crazy Youth‘) aired from 1998 to 2002 on the Nippon TV network.

The Japanese gameshow starred comedian Tomoaki Hamatsu, also known as Nasubi, who was 24 at the time.

He was naked on air the entire time and as many as 15 million viewers would watch on.

In English, Nasubi means eggplant, which was an animation used to hide his ding dong – so you can guess where the emoji got its meaning from.

The gameshow began by kidnapping Hamatsu, stripping him down and thrusting him into a small apartment with just a bathroom and foodless kitchen.

The whole point of the show was to test how long he could last in such horrifying conditions, and it’s incredible how the producers got away with it.

All Hamatsu had access to, entertainment wise, was a load of magazines with sweepstakes in them.

He was challenged to use these sweepstakes to raise ¥1 million (approximately $6,500) to win food for himself, which is what he survived on.

But sometimes, the ‘food’ he won was actually dog food and dried rice.

Now, Nasubi previously explained on the podcast This American Life that the door to the apartment wasn’t locked during the show, but he would have ‘had to go outside naked and ask for help’ if he wanted to leave.

Conditions were so horrible that he once had to go 10 months before ‘winning’ toilet paper.

Now aged 48, he explained: “Tsuchiya was a very famous producer. I felt honored to have gotten picked. He, to me, was like a person in the sky.

“I had admiration for him. But that changed. He became evil. My respect eventually turned to anger.

“I did not want to be naked. I told him that a million times. But he insisted. I did it. Then I told him that I did not what to be broadcasted.”

Nasubi was in that same room for a staggering 335 days.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “Watched The Contestant and can’t believe something this deceptive and cruel was allowed. He was completely humiliated for trash reality TV.”

“I’m horrified by all of this… this isn’t fun or funny…” another shared, while someone else said: “That producer is evil.”

The Contestant is available to stream on Hulu now.

A new Netflix documentary has dropped, and viewers can’t get enough of it.

The doc follows the story of a man who received a second chance at life.

Viewers were left glued to their TVs while watching grieving parents of a 25-year-old man with a degenerative muscular disease, as they find out he had lived a secret life online.

With a 98 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, the doc has been making waves online and reducing viewers to tearful messes with its incredible real story.

Norwegian World of Warcraft enthusiast Mats Steen, sadly passed away in 2014 because of his rare genetic disorder Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a condition which causes rapid muscle weakness.

Because of his condition, he became severely restricted as he grew older, which saw him need to use a specialised wheelchair.

Through his family’s grief, they discovered that he had been living another life thanks to computer games, which saw him have a fulfilling life online.

The doc premiered on Netflix on 26 October, titled The Remarkable Life of Ibelin.

It shows how Mats’ parents Robert and Trude Steen and his sister Mia discovered how he had been roleplaying on the immersive game, which allows characters to go on quests with groups of others and interact with players from all over the world.

It came after the Steens posted an update on Mats’ personal blog to announce that he had passed away.

They were then shocked to receive so many emails in response to the news from people who’d developed a relationship to Mats online, often referring to him by his online alias Ibelin Redmoore.

Through Ibelin, Mats lived as a muscular nobleman and monster-slayer with many friends and even virtual dates.

“You proved us wrong. You proved us so wrong,” Robert Steen said in the trailer, after learning about his son’s secret life.

Speaking about it in an interview with The Independent before the documentary dropped, Robert had actually revealed how the family had discouraged Mats from spending too much time playing on the internet.

“We thought he lived, for many reasons, a wasted life,” Robert shared. “And then we get these stories sharing just the opposite.

“We strongly believed that he was lonely, that he had no meaning for other people.”

He added: “We did all the right things, and we were so present in our children’s lives. With one exception – and that is the digital part of their lives.”

The documentary has left viewers in tears. One viewer shared online: “One of the best things you’ll see all year. The kind of film that instantly makes you want to scream about it from the rooftops. A life-affirming piece of art that makes you glad to share this world with the people you love.”

Another wrote: “‘I have not cried so much watching a film for a very long time.

Someone else penned: “The Remarkable Life of Ibelin is one of the most gorgeous things ever. Everyone should watch it. *Please* watch it.”

Streamer shows staggering amount of money he'd lose a year without ads

Streamer shows staggering amount of money he’d lose a year without ads

He said it pays too much to stop

Britt Jones

A Twitch streamer has shared the whopping amount of money he makes just from running ads on his stream, and it’s crazy.

He shared that if he quit the ad game, he’d lose millions.

It’s no surprise that ad revenue is lifting up the careers of many big-name streamers, as sponsors and giant brands rush in to capitalise off their fanbases.

But how much does it pay off?

You’ll see ads everywhere, from YouTube streams to Twitch, Kick and so on and there’s no stopping the monetization train.

Everything has ads and a lot of the time it’s paying for the streamers to be able to continue their dream of gaming as a career.

Now, you might think it’s paying a couple of quid, but you’re wrong.

xQc has shared that he makes around £4,750 every day and it’s just not worth stopping anytime soon.

As one of the most popular streamers on the platform, there’s no telling how many sales a brand could gain just from using his popularity.

This is why he was able to land a non-exclusivity deal with streaming site Kick at £55 million.

However, don’t think that means he can stop with his ads.

He shared during a recent stream that he makes £1.7 million a year and it’s a major source of income for him.

This revelation comes after xQc was asked by a fan to disable ads on his channel.

He responded by saying he doesn’t like doing it, but he makes so much money out of it.

He said: “Bro, do you have any idea how much I’d lose if I go live and have no ads? Do you have any idea?

“It’s like $6,000 a day. Watch this.”

He then proceeded to type away on the calculator app and figured out that $6,000 (£4,750) at 365 days would amount to $2,190,000 (£1,730,000) annually.

He said: “The one-click I did today, that removed the ads, literally made me lose $2 million this year. Just for you. See? I’m so charitable and cool.”

Because of his fanbase of watchers which accounts for about 20,000 to 30,000 per stream, he’s able to rake in so much cash.

He explained: “You shouldn’t be getting any more ads except the pre-rolls that are literally Twitch-certified. The only way to remove those ads will be to remove my partnership.

“So that would mean I wouldn’t have a subscribe button anymore, and then the chat would become complete dog s***. So, we’re not doing that.”

To prove how much he makes from ads, he’s been flashing his cash live on stream to his followers.

Last year, xQc showed everyone his £280,000 Lamborghini and then went on to splash out £20,000 on Christmas presents for his viewers.

So, he’s certainly making the most out of his pay, isn’t he?

Man live streaming himself in 'solitary confinement' with no light for a month is leaving viewers extremely concerned

Man live streaming himself in ‘solitary confinement’ with no light for a month is leaving viewers extremely concerned

Welcome to the bizarre world of streamers

Brenna Cooper

A YouTuber has been live-streaming himself in ‘solitary confinement’ for the past month, a decision which is leaving his followers extremely concerned.

For the older generations, live-streaming yourself doing a bunch of random things for internet clout may seem like a bizarre thing to do, but welcome to the weird world of the internet, my friend – where you can go viral for doing the strangest things imaginable.

While not a recent concept, streaming has increased in popularity over the past few years, thanks to websites such as Twitch, as well as ‘live’ features on more traditional platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

Streaming has also given people a platform to secure their place in the internet hall of fame (or infamy) after doing completely bonkers things – with one content creator landing himself in hot water after being live while crashing his $150k supercar.

Another controversial name in the world of online live-streaming is Australian YouTuber Norme, who is currently around 350 hours (just over 14 days) into filming himself in solitary confinement for an entire month, with no light, in order to break a ‘world record’.

And it’s a decision that has left his followers worried for his wellbeing.

Tuning in to watch a random 19-year-old either sleeping of attempting to go about his day in the dark doesn’t sound like riveting viewing, but several of Norme’s 1.2 million subscribers are more than happy to oblige.

The YouTuber even promises to perform a bunch of tricks for money – like a bizarre circus act – including doing a handstand for $5, charging $20 to put a straight jacket on for 15 minutes, and offering to tape his mouth shut for an hour, should anyone cough up $50.

We’re around halfway into Norme’s ambitious target, and fans are already concerned for his wellbeing, as many are worried that he is acting increasingly erratic during his waking hours.

Various moments saw the teenager appearing to be incoherent during his waking hours, with Dextero reporting that he was seen mumbling about ‘intergalactic aliens’ during the fifth day of his challenge.

It’s unknown if Norme was doing this for viewers, or if he is really feeling the effects of isolation.

However, his actions have left viewers worried regardless. Norme himself even expressed concern for continuing the challenge, telling his audience at one point that he was ‘legit about to quit’.

This isn’t the first time that Norme has made headlines for his extreme challenges.

The streamer previously received a visit from the police after attempting to break the Guinness World Record for how long he could stay awake.
