Mariam Nabatanzi, a legendary Ugandan woman, became famous for her incredible fertility – she gave birth to 38 children. Mariam is an example for many women, demonstrating that difficulties and fears can be overcome. This 39-year-old mother dedicated her life to her children and proved that nothing is impossible.
Her story is truly amazing. She gave birth to 44 children in her life, but lost six. Mariam gave birth to triplets four times, quadruplets three times, and twins three times. Interestingly, of all her children, only ten are girls, and the youngest is only five months old, while the eldest is already 23 years old. Her first birth was the birth of four pairs of twins, which was the beginning of her journey as a mother of many children.
When Mariam gave birth to her 23rd child, she went to doctors to find out about her unusual fertility. However, doctors could not offer her an explanation, as they had not encountered similar cases. Moreover, all of Mariam’s children were born to one man, who subsequently abandoned her and refused to help raise the children.
Despite the difficulties, Mariam believes that children deserve parental love and believes that leaving them without a father’s support is a crime. She calls on all men to share the responsibilities of raising children, not leaving everything on the shoulders of women.
Mariam’s story inspired one Ugandan, Karo Omu, to help her family. He created a crowdfunding page with the goal of raising at least $13,188 to support Mariam and her children. This money could be a great start for developing the family business, improving the children’s health, and creating conditions for a decent life.
