A brand new Forrest Gump ‘trailer’ for 2025 shows the lovable character’s son growing up in the mid-2000s, played by a leading Hollywood actor.
As cool as it would be to get a second Forrest Gump film, it may prove too difficult to live up to the success of the 1994 original.
If you haven’t seen it before, the title follows a boy named Forrest, who isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but manages to live an eventful and successful life despite his shortcomings and the doubts that others have of him.
From playing college football to being in the army to becoming a successful shrimp fisher, we live through the mid 20th-century with Forrest as he navigates his way through life like the rest of us.

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get – unless you’re expecting a sequel (Paramount Pictures)
It’s an inspirational story that’s considered one of Tom Hanks’ best movies, but it turns out that a second film has never really been seriously considered, according to Variety.
The trailer then, for a proposed sequel to Forrest Gump, is mostly AI generated and fan-edited, to the disappointment of many Bubba Gump fans.
It does look pretty cool though, with Timothée Chalamet taking the role of Forrest Gump Jr. in the trailer, as it opens with him looking over his mother’s grave.
Obviously following on from the original, where Forrest Gump Sr’s Jenny dies of a terminal illness and leaves behind their son for him to raise.
The trailer shows Junior struggling to find his place in the world, similar to his father in the original, featuring some AI-manufactured joking between the two, as well as some emotional reflection from Chalamet’s character about how smart his father really is.
This one-minute trailer was posted on YouTube in July, and it has already garnered over 1.6 million views, with fans clearly intrigued by the prospect of a sequel.
Sadly though, it looks like this is the closest we’ll get to one.

People in the comments felt mixed, to say the least, as one user shared: “Why can’t you let a CLASSIC alone?!”
Another said: “I looked up on IMDb and there is NO such sequel in the making. Thank God.”
However, others seemed excited as a third user commented: “Honestly…this concept would actually be really good.
“An intelligent son finding inspiration from his simple father’s outlook on life.”
A different user wrote: “What’s crazy is this could literally be its own movie without the Forrest Gump title.”

Someone took the Oasis reunion a little bit too seriously…
And by that I mean I got a coat that makes me look like I could be the sixth member of the band, ready to fall out with my wayward brothers Liam and Noel.
Before you wonder, no, I didn’t get tickets. I’m road-testing Uniqlo’s next-generation Hybrid Down Coat, a brand new addition to their AW24 collection that’s super-lightweight but promises to keep you warm and dry whatever the weather.
The latest iteration of Uniqlo’s sellout down range, it’s filled with a mixture of cotton padding and down, and coated with a water-repellent finish, while breathable mesh and ventilation holes mean you won’t get sweaty when jumping out of a cold winter’s morning onto a hot, crowded bus. It’s no surprise people are already raving about the ‘showerproof’ coat which has racked up dozens of five-star reviews. And the best part? The hood is removable.
But how does it stack up against the Great British Weather?

I’ve been wearing it to the office almost religiously since I got it (Adam Hamdani)
In the cold ❄️
If you’ve ever been to my current hometown of Manchester, you know that grey skies and rainy clouds are the norm up here.
On the coat goes, and the first thing I notice about it is the genuine high quality feel of it. It feels pretty lightweight considering the size and bulk of it, one of those where if you were wearing it on a cold morning but the weather got warm in the afternoon, you’d have no problem carrying it under one arm or stuffing it into your laptop bag.
It has a zip that goes about three quarters of the way down the coat, but buttons all the way down to make it a nice snug fit and keep all the warmth locked in when you need it.
In the rain ☔️
The following day, it was time to really put this coat to the test. I have around a 10-minute walk to the bus stop and it is lashing it down, with fast winds too. Let’s do it.
The first thing I notice is the coat doesn’t flap out, some coats are chaos to wear when it comes to winds as they flap all over the place, but this one seems to hold pretty well. The rain also appears to just brush off the coat? Small trickles remain but the majority of the rainfall seems to just be bouncing off the coat with grace.

In midler weather 🌦️
I wouldn’t ever wear this coat with anything else heavy on, a light jumper at most. Otherwise you might end up sweating even in the cold because this thing keeps you warm!
The coat is obviously quite long, so worrying about how to style it isn’t really a concern of mine outside of not wearing a hoodie underneath – lesson learnt. You can wear whatever bottoms you feel comfortable in with this piece as it’s quite a casual coat mainly concerned with protecting you from the elements.
My verdict?
I love it. Uniqlo’s Hybrid Down Coat is one that I’ll certainly be using on repeat throughout autumn and into winter. It’s easy to look after, I wear it most days when commuting into work and if I’m heading to do my Big Shop. At £110, this coat is definitely an investment but you’ll get a lot of wear out of it and compared to some others on the market, you’re paying for quality that will last in the long run.

Tom Hanks plays a wide range of ages in his new film, and he’s got mixed views about it.
The 68-year-old actor features in Robert Zemeckis’s Here, based on the 2014 graphic novel by Richard McGuire.
Here follows the events of a single spot of land, and the people living on it, over the course of more than a century.
Hanks stars alongside Robin Wright as the pair play an old and middle-aged Richard and Margaret Young.
“The single perspective never changes, but everything around it does,” Zemeckis told Vanity Fair.
“It’s actually never been done before. There are similar scenes in very early silent movies, before the language of montage was invented. But other than that, yeah, it was a risky venture.”
The film uses a mix of traditional make up effects and digital de-aging to achieve the various looks.
Meanwhile, for Hanks, who won his first Oscar aged 37, he says he isn’t looking to go back to his thirties.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight if there was a specific age he enjoyed playing in the film, he said that ‘the hardest for us was when we were playing 35’.
“That time when your metabolism stops, gravity starts tearing you down, your bones start wearing off”, he explained. “You stand differently.”
Notably, the Toy Story actor says he is ‘in better shape now’ than when he was in his 30s.
Opening up about the difficulties of being 35, he said: “You know why? Because my kids are grown up, I’m getting decent exercise, and I can eat right.
“You can’t do that when you’re 35. Life is such a burden!”

Although he previously told People that ‘it’s good to look young again’, he clarified that ‘it’s not great to be young again’.
“It was kooky,” Hanks added.
“That was like the gimmicky kind of aspect of it, because you could do that with regular makeup if you want to do that.
“But because we have this other super fast-filter computer that happened right then and there, we don’t have to wait for the post-production process to view [ourselves as young].
“Look, I’m 68. The much more difficult part that was both physical and spiritual emotionally is when Richard and Margaret are 35 and 42 — when the aging process just begins to kick in and you no longer are able to spring up off a couch. And you’re not yet to a place where life slows down completely.”

Netflix users have been left perplexed after being misled with the genre of a newly added movie.
The 2022 Tom Hanks flick was recently added to Netflix in the UK and people can’t believe which category it has been put into on the streaming platform.
The film’s poster and trailer don’t look like it may be anything other than a light-hearted or feel-good comedy title, as we see Hank sitting in an anorak, frowning a bit against a blue background.
Innocent enough, right? Wrong.

Tom Hank plays the titular character in the film (Sony Pictures)
The title boasts a near perfect score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter and even grossed $113.2 million (£86.4 million) at the box office, against a budget of $50 million (£38.2 million) – nothing to scoff about.
In the film, Hanks plays a grumpy old man that struggles to come to terms with his wife’s death a few months prior, being very short-tempered with those around him, including those that are making an effort to get along with him.
This film was placed in the ‘comedy’ section on Netflix, but fans have been quick to take to social media to share how the film has been wrongly profiled as a comedy, and how wholesome it really is.
It’s named A Man Called Otto, and you can view the trailer here:
Directed by Marc Foster, best known for Quantum of Solace and World War Z, the film is based on the bestselling Swedish novel called A Man Called Ove, which was also adapted into a film in its native language achieved two nominations at the Oscars.
Otto (Hanks), has given up on life and wants to end it all just months after losing his wife, but some new neighbours moving in changes everything, as he befriends Marisol, a wife and mother-of-two.
Throughout the film, he often has flashbacks to memories he has of his late wife, where Hanks’ real-life son Truman plays a younger Otto, with the movie exploring themes of death among loved ones and the toll it can take.
Viewers took to X to share their shock after selecting and watching the ‘comedy’ movie, as one said: “Watched ‘A Man Called Otto’ on Netflix yesterday and it somehow broke my heart and then put it all back together. What an incredible movie, cried lots.”

Another shared: “Just watched A Man Called Otto and I’ve cried so much I’ve got a headache. Be kind to people who might be having a hard time.”
A third said: “I’m watching A Man Called Otto and dude I’m crying so hard”
A different user posted: “‘A Man Called Otto‘ is a tear jerker, haven’t sobbed at a film like this for such a long time.”
Basically, get the tissues ready.

Tom Hanks has been praised for his response when answering a question about which of his movies he thinks is the worst.
The 67-year-old Hollywood legend has a CV as long as my arm, with roles in numerous acclaimed films such as Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Philadelphia and The Green Mile – over his decades-long career he’s scooped two best actor Oscars, five Golden Globes and two Screen Actor Guild awards.
And when he’s not acting in front of the camera he’s happy to step behind it for his work as a director, producer, and screenwriter. Basically, he does it all and he does it all very well.
Hanks appeared on the Mythical Kitchen YouTube channel, where celebrities tuck into their ‘last meal’ as they talk about their lives and contemplate their death.
If you’re interested, Hanks would opt for challah bread French toast with Cary’s sugar-free syrup; an In-N-Out Double-Double burger with a diet Coke; a Greek salad, with avocado, calamari and a side of pita bread with taramasalata; El Cholo’s ‘taste of history’ platter with a diet Dr Pepper; all finished off with a white chocolate Bundt cake. Bloody Hell Hanks doesn’t hold back, does he?

YouTube/Mythical Kitchen
Sitting down with Mythical Kitchen host Josh Scherer, Hanks was quizzed about his career and at one point was asked: “What is the one role you least want to be remembered for?”
After laughing at the ‘cheap shot’ question, the actor told the host: “You have to understand. I’m going to school you. Every one of these movies are made in the greatest faith imaginable. They’re all a blast to do. Everybody is working really hard – so to slag on any of them is to insult the communal effort that we all put in.”
Having said it all that, he did then add that he did an episode of the long-running sitcom The Love Boat back in 1980 that he seemed quite happy to leave in the past.
Nonetheless, fans loved his thoughtful and ‘classy’ response to the otherwise fairly awkward question, with one person saying: “You got to admit the dude has class.”
Another commented: “Tom declining to name his ‘worst role’ in order to refuse disparaging anyone’s hard work is truly admirable.”
Someone else agreed: “I’ve heard many actors casually talk about the least favourite movies they’ve starred in and my first thought is, ‘damn, bet a lot of people worked really hard on that thing you’re bashing’.”
