David Parton, Dolly Parton’s brother, died on November 15 at his home in White Pine, Tennessee. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. He was 82 years old.
On social media, David’s sister Stella shared the sad news of his death. She remembered him as a loving, caring guy. Stella called David “sweet David” and talked about his time in the Marine Corps.
David had a good job as a superintendent for Simpson Construction, where he built bridges in Knoxville, Johnson City, and Kingsport. His daughter Donna and her husband Dena, his wife of 45 years, Kay, and many grandkids and great-grandchildren will miss him.
A service for David’s family will be held at Leadvale Baptist Church in White Pine on November 19. The wake will start at 5 p.m., and he will be buried at Dandridge Memorial Gardens the next day.
With David’s death, the Parton family has lost several loved ones recently. Before he did, his brothers Larry, Floyd, and Randy, as well as their parents Robert and Avie Lee, died.
Randy Parton died in January 2021 after a long fight with cancer. Dolly remembered him as a great singer, songwriter, and performer. They had done several songs together, such as “You Are My Christmas” and “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You.”
Floyd Parton, who passed away in December 2018, was also a great singer and artist. Some of the songs he wrote for Dolly were “Nickels and Dimes” and “Rockin’ Years.”
The Parton family is finding comfort in memories of their loved ones, even though they are sad. People who knew David will miss his love, kindness, and commitment, but his family and friends will carry on his memory.
