Boston news station teased after failing to spot huge A-list star during TV report

A Boston news station has been ridiculed after they failed to spot a big Hollywood A-lister during a televised report.

Live TV can be hard and it’s easy to make mistakes – as you can see for yourself in the hilarious news reporter compilation on YouTube.

However, it’s hard to miss one of the most recognizable people on the planet, particularly if you’re a journalist with a keen eye.

However, for one station in Boston, this became a reality.

WCVB Channel 5 aired a clip on December 1, showing Boston’s holiday festivities on Newbury Street.

However, the clip picked up more than just some festive cheer, as TikToker @chlomance spotted.

The footage shows none other than Zendaya and her mother Claire Stoermer walking through the bustling shopping district while two young girls in the background appear starstruck.

The segment was subtitled “Star-Studded Stroll” when it re-aired the following day, December 2, suggesting the station eventually caught their own slip up.

“WCVB Channel 5 shooting b-roll and not clocking they got Zendaya,” @chlomance captioned their post, accompanied by cry-laughing emojis.

The video sparked amused reactions online.

“I saws that and was yelling at the TV,” commented one viewer.

Another joked: “Breaking news tomorrow morning.”

Others wondered if Zendaya herself had seen the footage. Even WCVB reporter Matt Reed joined in on the viral moment, commenting: “Thanks for letting us know!”

Zendaya has been spotted frequently in Boston and surrounding areas while working on her upcoming movie, The Drama, alongside Robert Pattinson.

The upcoming film, described as an American romance, reportedly follows “a couple whose romance changes dramatically before their big day.”

According to the New York Post, Zendaya’s mother joined her daughter during the Boston shoot.

Stoermer, a schoolteacher and jewelry designer, shares a close bond with Zendaya, her only child from her marriage to Kazembe Ajamu Coleman.

The Euphoria star’s family isn’t the only one visiting her in Boston.

Her boyfriend, actor Tom Holland, was also in town on November 8.

Holland shared rare photos and videos of the couple enjoying a date night at Foxhole, a bar on Newbury Street.

In other Holland and Zendaya news, the Spider-Man actor recently got physical protecting his girlfriend from the media and fans.

The couple attended the launch event for Holland’s non-alcoholic beer brand, Bero, in New York City.

While making their way to the venue, they were swarmed by photographers and fans eager for a glimpse of the stars.

As Holland managed to navigate through the crowd, Zendaya paused to interact with some fans, which quickly drew a large group around her.

In a moment caught on video by photographer Jackson Lee, Holland can be seen stepping back into the throng, pushing through the crowd to reach Zendaya.

He firmly grabbed her hand and guided her safely into the venue.

One video, shared by Entertainment Tonight on TikTok, captured Holland’s frustration with the chaos. The Spider-Man star can be heard saying: “Get out of the f***ing way,” before addressing the crowd with a firm: “No, no, no.”

Fans were quick to celebrate Holland’s actions.

“Who needs bodyguards when you are dating Spider-Man,” one social media user commented.

Another said: “Good on him for taking care of his lady. Shame on those camera dudes.” A third called him a “gentleman,” while others noted that his protective behavior showed he is “the real deal.”
