FBI Investigating Possible ‘Second Shooter’ In Charlie Kirk Murder

Federal investigators are now examining whether more than one person may have been involved in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, after new video evidence and forensic clues raised doubts about the original lone-gunman theory.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck on 10 September 2025 while speaking at an outdoor Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Authorities initially believed the shot came from a rooftop sniper using a .30-06 Mauser M 98 rifle later found in nearby woods.

Police arrested 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson two days later, charging him with aggravated murder and related offences. But federal officials now say they are investigating whether Robinson acted alone or had assistance.

One focus of that inquiry is doorbell-camera footage that reportedly shows Robinson fleeing while speaking on a phone, raising questions about possible coordination. Investigators are also analyzing another clip that appears to show a masked figure in tactical gear preparing to fire, a video that has fueled widespread speculation online.

Agents are additionally reviewing the behavior of several men standing behind Kirk on stage. Social-media users claimed their gestures looked suspicious, though officials stress that no one on stage has been accused of involvement at this time.

Forensic teams continue to analyze evidence from the suspected sniper site atop the Losee Center, where the single shot is thought to have originated. Ammunition recovered nearby reportedly carried ideological engravings, though authorities have not released the details.

Digital messages provided by Robinson’s roommate describe retrieving and hiding the rifle, supporting prosecutors’ claims that the attack involved planning. These messages are now part of the expanding investigation.

As theories multiply online, federal officials say their goal is to determine conclusively whether a second shooter or any accomplices played a role in the attack, while cautioning that the review is ongoing and no additional suspects have been formally named.
