Reba McEntire Reveals Explosive On-Set Truth Behind Her Fiancé Rex Linn’s Role in Season 2

Reba McEntire is officially back on set for Season 2 of her NBC sitcom Happy’s Place, and she’s letting fans know just how much joy it brings her — especially because she gets to work side-by-side with her fiancé, Rex Linn.

The show premiered in October 2024 and quickly became a cozy, humorous standout on Friday-night TV. It follows Reba’s character, Bobbie, who inherits a Knoxville tavern after her father’s passing and finds herself leading a vibrant, quirky team that includes Gabby (Melissa Peterman), Emmett (Rex Linn), Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), Steve (Pablo Castelblanco), and Takoda (Takala Black Elk). Linn plays Emmett, the gruff but wise kitchen veteran who has kept the tavern running for years — and who happens to share undeniable chemistry with Bobbie.

By the end of Season 1, fans had already picked up on the sparks between Bobbie and Emmett. Season 2 wasted no time building on that tension, opening with the pair finally sharing their first kiss and going on their long-anticipated first date. Of course, nothing stays simple for long, and their blossoming romance becomes entangled with a secret Emmett has been hiding about Bobbie’s estranged half-sister, Isabella. Still, the on-screen connection between Reba and Rex crackles with the same easy warmth found in their real-life relationship.

While visiting the TODAY Show, Reba said Season 2 has been “so much fun,” largely because the cast now feels like a true family. “Season one, you’re learning everybody’s habits and how they work. It was fun. But Season two — we know each other now. Our crew is the best, and we’re having a great time,” she shared.

Acting together isn’t new territory for Reba McEntire and Rex Linn. Their friendship began all the way back in 1991 when they appeared in The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. Since then, they’ve crossed paths on-screen multiple times, including in The Hammer (2023) and ABC’s Big Sky (2022). But Happy’s Place has given them a chance to work together consistently — something Reba says she loves.

“He’s a workaholic and he loves to rehearse,” she joked. “Me, not so much on the rehearsal part. But he makes sure I know my lines. We have a blast. We’re grateful we get to go to work together and then go home together.”

The couple got engaged on Christmas Eve 2024, and while fans are eager for details, Reba says there’s no wedding date yet. They’re enjoying the engagement phase and want the eventual celebration to reflect who they are: “We like comfort, we love friends, we love food.”

Reba’s schedule remains packed — juggling filming, wedding planning, and her role as a coach on The Voice. “I’m having a great time,” she said. “Michael, Snoop, Niall — they’re just so much fun to hang out with. They’re cute as a button, and Snoop entertains all of us.”

On top of all that, Reba is heading to New York City for the first time ever during the Christmas season. She’ll host and perform at the annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center special on December 3, delivering three songs — including one brand new piece she hasn’t even recorded yet. “I’ve never been in New York at Christmas time, so I’m thrilled. It’s a joyful, thankful time and lots of love.”

She’ll be joined by an impressive lineup of performers: Marc Anthony, Halle Bailey, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, Laufey, New Edition, Brad Paisley, Carly Pearce, the Radio City Rockettes, and Gwen Stefani.

With a hit show, a thriving relationship, and a holiday season full of milestone moments, Reba McEntire is entering this chapter of her life with gratitude, excitement, and the humor fans have loved for decades.
