80 percent of women are secretly doing new sex trend that men have no idea about

A sexpert has revealed that a boatload of women are ‘broadening’ their horizons in the bedroom – but they’re not letting blokes in on it.

This ‘deeply personal’ form of self-gratification is something of a dirty secret among ladies, but psychosexual therapist Natasha Silverman wants to reassure people it’s not weird at all.

In fact, this technique can apparently ‘create a more diffuse, full-body pleasure sensation’ and lead to orgasms that will have you punching the air in ecstasy.

So, what is this sex trend that is taking women by storm?

For those who pay attention to a good pun, you might not be surprised by the fact that it’s known as ‘broadening’.

This term refers to a method of masturbation which involves rubbing, pressing or moving your entire vulva against a surface.

It’s sort of like dry humping on steroids, as the surface is usually a large one – and as a result, ‘it stimulates a larger surface area of the vulva’, Silverman explains.

“Instead of just targeting the external clitoris, it engages the deeper clitoral structures,” she said.

The therapist told Metro that this process of self-pleasure can lead to orgasms that are ‘more widespread, and even more wave-like compared to the sharper, more concentrated climax that direct stimulation can create’.

And according to a survey conducted by OMGYES in partnership with the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, a whopping 87 percent of women get their kicks through broadening.

After asking around 20,000 women to reveal which sex acts bring them the most pleasure, the research found that although it’s very popular, 80 percent of ladies don’t like admitting to using this method.

The women explained that they fear being judged for opting for a more unconventional method of masturbation, but Silverman says that she’s met loads of females who are a fan of it.

In fact, the survey found that 75 percent of the participants stumbled into broadening before they had lost their virginity.

“Many of my clients bring up the topic of broadening in the therapy room, but few realise that there’s actually now a name for it, or that this is what they’ve been doing for all of this time,” Silverman said.

“It’s incredibly common, particularly among women who discover self-pleasure in childhood or adolescence.”

Explaining how you can get involved in this sex trend, she said: “Explore different movements like rocking, circling, or a gentle pulsing pressure rather than only back and forth motion.

“Vary positions too, like lying on your stomach, sitting upright or standing while leaning against something or someone to create different sensations.

“You can even experiment with fabric and friction, for example, using softer materials like a silk pillow case which may feel different from firmer surfaces like a bed or your own hand.”

Silverman says that like everything in life, it’s not for everyone – but still, broadening might be worth a try if you’re at a loose end one evening.

“The key with any form of self-pleasure is tuning into your body and exploring what feels right for you,” she added. “If it’s broadening – embrace it!”
