Beloved HGTV Canada star Frank Cozzolino died on December 4 at the age of 56 from complications following a second liver transplant. The news was confirmed by his co-star Mike Holmes in an emotional Instagram post. Alongside two images of the pair, he wrote: “I am devastated by the passing of my good friend Frank Cozzolino. Frank made us better. His impact will live on in every home he helped. Frank could walk into the toughest electrical disaster, crack a joke in his style, and suddenly the whole room felt lighter. That’s just who he was.
“Frank wasn’t just good at what he did — he really cared. He cared about doing it right. He cared about the people he worked with. He cared about every homeowner he helped. Frank will forever be part of the Holmes family. Miss you buddy,” he penned. Frank first appeared alongside Mike on the HGTV show Holmes on Homes, which debuted on the network in 2003 and ran for 82 episodes.
Mike also posted an emotional video in which he went into more detail about his friends final years saying he “went through hell”.
“He had a liver transplant six years ago. That one failed. He had to go in and get another liver,” he said. “It was touch and go.”
Mike added: “We thought for sure that he wasn’t going to make it, and he came back. And all of a sudden, due to complications, he has passed away on December 4.”
Recalling their first meeeting which led to their almost three decade freindship and collaboration he said: “Frank showed up on my very first Holmes on Homes job 25+ years ago.

“We told him we didn’t have a lot of money to produce the show. That didn’t matter to him, he genuinely just wanted to help people.
“Frank has been working with me since then, helping homeowners and helping me,” he said.
In 2012 Frank was told by doctors he would not live more than another five years with his liver. He underwent his first transplant on August 24, 2017.
He later posted on Instagram to say: “I was given a second chance at life. I am forever thankful and blessed that Organ Donation exists.”
