Three Illinois Teens Charged After Alleged Assault at Graduation Party
Authorities in DuPage County have charged three suburban teenagers in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a classmate during a high school graduation party held in June.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred following a Saint Viator High School graduation celebration in Roselle. Prosecutors allege the victim was assaulted inside a minivan during the gathering.
Charges and Court Decisions
Kevin Niemiec of Prospect Heights, Zachary Mascolo of Arlington Heights, and Jon Clary II of Bartlett — all 18 — were each charged with criminal sexual assault. A judge ordered Niemiec to remain in custody, while Mascolo and Clary were released under strict conditions, including no alcohol use and no contact with the victim or her family.
Investigation Details
Police were notified on June 15, after the victim sought help from a friend and contacted her family. She was later taken to a hospital for medical care. Arrest warrants were issued on December 17, with all three suspects taken into custody shortly after.
Prosecutors Speak Out
“These allegations are extremely serious,” said State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, calling the incident “a devastating betrayal” and praising the victim’s courage.
The defendants are scheduled to return to court in January.
