Jake Paul Injury Details Emerge After Heavyweight Knockout Loss To Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul was left dealing with a serious and unexpected injury after stepping into the ring with two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on Friday night, December 19.

The pair faced off at the Kaseya Center in Miami, where Joshua ultimately came out on top against the YouTuber-turned-boxer, bringing the contest to an end in the sixth round.

The fighters shared the ring for six three-minute rounds before Joshua finally closed the show, with Paul knocked out after being sent down multiple times during the bout.

The long-anticipated fight began in a cautious and uneven way, as neither Joshua nor Paul landed many clean punches early on. Paul spent much of the opening rounds moving around the ring, clearly trying to avoid heavy exchanges.

That approach changed in the sixth round, when a powerful shot from Joshua not only stopped the fight but also caused a serious injury to Paul.

Moments after the bout ended, Paul was seen spitting blood as he revealed that the punch from Joshua had broken his jaw.

“Anthony’s a great fighter, I got my ass beat, but that’s what this sport’s about,” said Paul. “I think my jaw is broken by the way.”

“Yeah, it’s definitely broke. But man, that was good. A nice little a** whipping from one of the best to ever do it.”

“I love this so I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point.”

Paul later confirmed that the damage to his jaw was worse than first thought, explaining that it had been broken in two places. He shared the update on X, writing: “Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days.”

Alongside the message, he posted an X-ray image of the injury, which clearly showed two separate breaks.

Despite the outcome, some fans were surprised that Paul managed to last six rounds with Joshua. Paul himself suggested that the fight could have gone longer if his conditioning had been stronger.

“I’m not surprised, I just got tired,” he said.

“It was just so much handling his weight. If I had better cardio I could have maybe kept on fighting. But he did amazing and he hits really hard.”

Joshua, meanwhile, remained critical of his own performance despite securing the knockout win, admitting that he felt the fight did not represent his best work.

“It wasn’t the best performance. It wasn’t the best,” he said. “The end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down and hurt him. That has been the request leading up. That was on my mind.”

“It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination. Jake Paul – he’s done really well tonight. I want to give him his props.”

“He got up time and time again. It takes a real man to do that.”
