Paul faced Anthony Joshua on December 19 and managed to last six rounds against the former heavyweight champion before being knocked out in the sixth.
The heavy knockout left Paul with a fractured jaw, which later required surgery to repair the damage.
“Yeah, it’s definitely broke,” Paul continued. “But man, that was good. A nice little a** whipping from one of the best to ever do it.”
“I love this so I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point.”
In a health update shared on December 21, Paul revealed that he was restricted to a liquid-only diet for seven days. That meant the 28-year-old was unlikely to enjoy a normal Christmas meal.
He has since shared another update, explaining that his recovery has also affected his sleep.
He added: “I’m a little bit tired, it’s hard to sleep, I go onto the pillow and then my jaw twerks up to the left and I wake up so.”
“It’s all part of the sport and it was an amazing night and I learned a lot, gained a lot of experience and we’re moving onto more fights this year,” he said.
According to MMA Sports, Paul has been issued a medical suspension and is not allowed to compete again until a physician clears him.
The Florida Athletic Commission confirmed the medical suspension to the outlet on Sunday, January 4.
He said: “It was just mental. It was just like him imposing his will on me, and being massive, and the big shots landing. Then yeah, it pretty much all goes downhill from there.”
The younger Paul brother also admitted that his biggest mistake was failing to complete altitude training ahead of the bout.
