An Older Woman Visited the Doctor — The Talk Took a Funny Turn

One day, an elderly woman went to the doctor because she had a stubborn itch that just wouldn’t go away. She was frustrated, uncomfortable, and ready for answers. “Doctor,” she said, “something is clearly not right, and I need help today.” The doctor listened, did a quick check, and leaned back with a serious face.

“This looks like a common issue,” he said. The woman’s eyes widened. “That can’t be,” she replied firmly. “I’m eighty years old, and I’ve lived a very quiet, proper life.” She left annoyed, convinced he was wrong. Still itching and even more irritated, she went to a second doctor. She explained everything again, carefully and politely.

After another exam, the second doctor gave the exact same conclusion. The woman threw her hands up. “No!” she snapped. “That explanation does not fit me at all. I know myself.” Feeling unheard, she stormed out. Finally, she went to a third doctor and said, “Please help me. I have this itch, but don’t tell me the same thing the others did. It can’t be that.

I need a real answer.” The doctor nodded and said, “Alright, let’s take a proper look.” After a thorough exam, he smiled and said, “Ma’am, you’re absolutely right—you don’t have what they claimed.” She sighed in relief… until he added, “This is so old and undisturbed, you’ve attracted fruit flies instead!”
