Born in Portland, Oregon, in 1947, Struthers started her acting career in her twenties, even starring opposite Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces. Ironically, being fired from a TV show opened the door for her role in All in the Family, which debuted in 1971 and became a cultural milestone.

Struthers was also active in charity work, particularly with ChildFund. However, her involvement ended after a frightening encounter in Uganda, where she and her crew were nearly mistaken for kidnappers. The experience, along with public ridicule, led her to step back from the spotlight in that arena.

In her personal life, she married psychiatrist William Rader in 1977 and had one daughter, Samantha, before divorcing in 1983. Struthers openly shared that motherhood wasn’t originally in her plans, but she embraced it fully. Samantha now runs her own psychology practice.

Even in her seventies, Struthers continues to shine. In a 2023 interview on Australia’s Studio 10, she charmed viewers while reminiscing about a comedic 1975 TV appearance. Looking radiant at 76, she proved that her humor, strength, and authenticity remain as captivating as ever.
