Most people would agree that managing a marriage between just two partners is already challenging enough.
But for this reality star, who openly practices polygamy, their home life works in a very different way.
The Davis family is no different. They share their unconventional lifestyle with viewers through the TLC show Seeking Sister Wife.
As for the practical side of things, like sleeping and intimacy, the answer comes in the form of a massive 12-foot bed and a separate room set aside just for physical intimacy.
Polygamy is rare in the United States, with studies showing only around four to five percent of Americans live this way. Still, the Davis family has become one of the better-known examples thanks to their time on TLC.
In one episode, Nick and his three wives — Jennifer, April, and Danielle — gave viewers a tour of how they make their unusual sleeping setup work.
Nick acknowledged that most polygamous couples don’t attempt to share one giant bed, mainly because finding 12-foot bedsheets is nearly impossible. But the Davis family insists that their household works differently.
“But that’s just the way that we like to do it,” April added, before pointing out: “Because we don’t want to have to divide up that time with Nick.”
“Now we have the sleeping quarters taken care of, we might need to reload the boom boom room,” Nick said with a grin.
Still, not everyone in the household approves of the name. Danielle, the newest wife, pushed back, telling the family: “we can’t be calling it that.”
“As far as the sexual attention that each of my wives receives, it’s kind of like a solar system,” he explained, placing himself in the role of the ‘sun’ while likening each of his wives to planets revolving around him.
“Each of the planets revolves around the sun in its own orbit, at its own distance. They don’t all receive the same amount of sunlight, but they all receive what they need to remain in their orbit.”
“I’ve never heard someone compare themselves to the sun… that was a first,” one user remarked, while another bluntly wrote: “These women were just referred to as planet… wtf.”
