Court issues order against teen after he got 14-year-old girlfriend pregnant

A 12-year-old boy who became a father has received a court order prohibiting him from having sleepovers with his girlfriend.

Those who regularly watch the TLC reality series Unexpected might recognize Hunter Johnson, now 14, and his 15-year-old girlfriend, Bella Vaughn.

The young couple made an appearance on the show last month, and their story certainly attracted a significant amount of attention. The series claims to provide a “raw look at teenage pregnancies and their effects on families.”

In the realm of controversial teenage pregnancies, few stories are as startling as that of Hunter and Bella.

Bella was only 14 when she and Hunter became parents. The young mother, who has gained a substantial following on TikTok, shared in a video that Hunter had just turned 13 days after the pregnancy began.

“I know it doesn’t change anything,” Bella stated.

“I realize he was ready for sex sooner than I was, and that’s perfectly fine, but I was prepared when we actually had sex.”

In response to various accusations circulating online, she stated that she had not exploited him or coerced him into doing anything against his will.

She added: “We’ve already spoken to the police about it. It was consensual.”

Addressing allegations that she had destroyed Hunter’s life, she remarked: “He made the choice to stay with me. He decided to take care of our baby.”

Bella welcomed their son Wesley in March 2025. During an episode of Unexpected, Hunter shared: “I was 12 when I learned I was going to be a dad. Now I’m 13. I never imagined I would be finishing 8th grade while also becoming a father.”

Currently, Hunter’s parents are engaged in a custody dispute over their son. Court documents indicate that Hunter’s father, Casey Johnson, has filed a petition to gain full custody of the teenager, claiming that his mother has fostered an ‘unstable and unwholesome environment’.

Casey also asserts that Hunter’s mother, Stacie Riddle, permitted Hunter to ‘move in with his girlfriend who soon became pregnant’.

The court has approved Casey’s request to prevent his son from residing with Bella (the mother of his child) or her family, including staying at her residence.

“Neither party shall permit the minor child to stay overnight at a romantic partner’s home,” states the temporary custody order.
