One of Washington’s shelters just received a little dog, practically a puppy. But she behaved significantly differently from the other animals. They had a similar attraction to humans, enjoyed the shelter’s staff’s care and attention, and went out of their way to make visitors feel welcome.
But Roscoe was different. He didn’t seem to care that they were there. He kept his distance and didn’t try to interact with the other animals or the people working at the shelter.
Such behavior may have been predicted if Roscoe had been mistreated, but the volunteers at this shelter were attracted to it just because they loved animals.
Something was clearly bothering the dog, so the shelter workers decided to find out what it was. They put a photo of him on the internet.
And something wonderful has occurred. As soon as he or she saw this note, a farmer in the nearby village summoned the sanctuary. He reported that three years ago, his beloved pet, who resembled Roscoe, went missing. The owner stated that he had spent a year searching for a pet with little success.
The dog abruptly paused and started sniffing as the guy approached the shelter and walked toward the cage. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he raced around wagging his tail, flung himself at his feet, and roared with delight.
While he was inside the sanctuary, no one saw him in this predicament. When the owner observed that the dog recognized him and was happy, he burst into tears.
