Lee Asher always knew his life would revolve around animals. Raised in Los Angeles in a home filled with rescued pets, he felt a deep connection to animals from a young age.
That passion would eventually lead him to leave his job and set out on an extraordinary mission: to travel the country and save as many shelter dogs as he could.

As a child, Asher spent countless hours volunteering at a local animal shelter, learning the ins and outs of rescue work. It was during those early experiences that he realized his calling—to help animals in need and advocate for adoption on a larger scale.
“I always knew I’d grow up with a house full of rescued animals,” Asher told The Dodo. “So where I am today comes as no surprise to anyone who’s known me since I was young.”

And he meant it. Over the years, Asher has rescued 16 animals and welcomed many of them into his own home, including seven dogs—Yaffa, Molly, Cali, BoBo, Butters, Haven, and Lillie—and two cats, Whisky and Goose. Each had their own story of abandonment, but under his care, they’ve all thrived.

Driven by his love for dogs and a desire to make a difference, Asher turned his passion into purpose. He travels with his rescued pack, sharing their stories and promoting adoption nationwide. For him, the rewards are immeasurable.
“Inspiration comes from the love for dogs,” Asher said. “By rescuing a dog, you’re not just saving a life—you’re making room for another animal to be saved. It’s a win-win that feels incredible.”

Lee Asher’s journey is a powerful reminder that following your heart can change lives—not just for animals, but for everyone they touch along the way.
