The 98th edition of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off Thursday.
Taking place in New York City, the parade begins at 8:30 a.m. ET on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and ends at Macy’s flagship store at Herald Square.
It’s going to be a chilly one in New York during the parade on Thursday, with forecasted temperatures in the 40s and winds around 10 mph.
“This year’s 98th Macy’s Parade will create awe with unforgettable character balloons, one-of-a-kind floats and the world-class entertainment only Macy’s can deliver,” Will Coss, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade executive producer said in a statement.
This year’s parade is expected to feature 17 giant character balloons, 22 floats, 15 novelty and heritage inflatables, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns and much more. But who exactly is going to feature during the parade?

What balloons are on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
While the annual parade will feature 17 character balloons and 15 heritage or novelty balloons, this year’s edition will debut six new featured balloons, including:
- Minnie Mouse
- Extraordinary Noorah & The Elf on the Shelf
- Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse
- Goku from Dragon Ball
- Marshall from PAW Patrol
- Spider-Man
Some of the recurring balloons for this year’s parade include:
- Beagle Scout Snoopy
- Bluey
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid
- Kung Fu Panda’s Po
- Monkey D. Luffy
- The Pillsbury Doughboy
What floats are on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
Same as the balloons, six new floats will make their first appearance this year:
- “Candy Cosmos” by Haribo
- “Dora’s Fantastical Rainforest” by Nickelodeon & Paramount
- “Magic Meets the Seas” by Disney Cruise Line
- “Pasta Knight” by Rao’s Homemade
- “Wednesday’s Feast” by Netflix
- “Wondrous World of Wildlife” by Bronx Zoo (The Bronx Zoo is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year)
