It’s unlikely that anyone will recognize Brenda Fricker 32 years after her appearance in Home Alone 2.
Fricker played the notorious ‘Pigeon Lady’ in the 1992 Christmas classic, a homeless lady in New York who liked pigeons and ultimately helped Kevin McCallister (Macauley Culkin) fight the Wet Bandits.
Although Fricker gained most recognition for her role in Home Alone 2, she has also made appearances in British television dramas like Casualty, Holding, and The Catch.
Fricker has had minor parts in films such as A Time to Kill, So I Married an Axe Murderer, and 2007’s How About You, and she even garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Minor Actress in My Left Foot.
Fans of Home Alone 2 will recall that Fricker’s character had a scruffy appearance, which contrasts sharply with the now-79-year-old star’s appearance.
Fricker appeared on the Irish television show The Tommy Tiernan Show in 2021, when she revealed details about her private life away from the spotlight.
“I live a very quiet life, well under the radar, and I drive a tiny car and own a cottage; that’s about it,” the actress stated at the time.
“I chat to the wall a lot, talk to the dog, write poems, read books, and watch TV. There’s nothing unique about it, aside from the possibility that spending a lot of time alone could lead you to converse with the wall more frequently than the typical individual.
Fricker went on to characterize herself as a recluse and made some open disclosures regarding her mental condition.
According to Mirror Online, she stated, “Just yesterday, I went to the doctor, and he said, ‘We’re going to put you on stronger antidepressants. I am something of a recluse.
“Choosing to stay indoors is one thing, but being told to do so makes me want to go outside.”
Fricker did not address her striking resemblance to journalist and TV broadcaster Piers Morgan, a similarity he typically confronts during the Christmas season and denies in Home Alone 2.
Over the years, Home Alone fans have turned to Twitter to question if Pigeon Lady is Morgan, prompting the broadcaster to respond for himself.
One user previously stated online: “I’m not sure how many acting credits he has, but this is @piersmorgan’s finest work.”
Morgan responded, “It’s. Not. Me.”
People have also flocked to social media this year to express similar emotions.
Someone recently commented, “It’s crazy to think that Donald Trump and Piers Morgan are both in Home Alone 2.”
“I will never be able to unsee Piers Morgan in Home Alone 2 as the pigeon lady… it’s too convincing,” another reader said.
While it’s not Morgan, he must be linked to Fricker…
