Louisiana Rescuers Find 2 Pit Bulls Stuck in Canal and Rush to Save Them

Norman and Francis were left trembling in the cold after being cruelly dumped in a canal in Louisiana. Sadly, this canal is often used by people to abandon animals because it’s nearly impossible for them to climb out on their own.

Trapped with no way to escape, the two Pit Bulls were stuck there, scared and alone. All they could do was wait and hope that someone kind would notice them and help them out of the terrible situation.

Thankfully, a caring person saw the two dogs in distress and quickly contacted Zeus’ Rescues for help.

As soon as the team received the call, they didn’t waste a second. Knowing that heavy rain was on the way and that the water level in the canal would rise quickly, they hurried to save the stranded dogs.

A Race Against Time

When the rescue team arrived, their hearts sank at the sight of Norman and Francis stuck in the canal. They began speaking gently to the dogs, trying to calm them down.

But Norman and Francis were frightened. They barked nervously, unsure if they could trust these new humans.

As the rescuers stepped into the canal, something changed. The dogs seemed to sense that they were there to help. Their barks turned from fearful to hopeful, and they wagged their tails as if to say, “Are you really here for us?”

To help build trust, the rescuers offered them tasty treats. Francis slowly took a few steps forward, tempted by the food. One of the rescuers gently fed her by hand. That was the moment she made up her mind to trust them.

Bravely, Francis crossed the canal and allowed herself to be lifted to safety.

Seeing his best buddy saved, Norman knew it was his turn. He jumped across the widest part of the canal, and the team quickly scooped him up.

With both dogs finally safe, the rescuers let out a huge sigh of relief. They placed the pups in their van and drove them straight to their facility in New Orleans.

Healing Through Love

At the shelter, the staff welcomed Norman and Francis with warmth and kindness. They made sure the pups felt safe, comfortable, and loved while they recovered from their frightening ordeal.

It didn’t take long for their true personalities to shine. They adored people and were incredibly sweet and friendly.

The more time the rescuers spent with them, the more they fell in love.

“They love to be in the sunshine and will just lay out like a cat in the sun… They’re perfect angels,” said Michelle, one of the rescuers

A New Beginning

After some time at the shelter, it was time for Norman and Francis to find forever homes. Although they clearly had a strong friendship, they were not considered a bonded pair, which meant they could be adopted separately.

Norman was the first to find his perfect match and went off to live with his new family. Francis is still waiting for someone to come along and give her the happy ending she deserves.

Thanks to the quick actions of Zeus’ Rescues and the kindness of strangers, both dogs were given a second chance at life. And while Francis is still on her journey to find a forever home, she now knows what love feels like—and that’s a beautiful thing.
