In a moving display of loyalty and love, a stray dog in Azerbaijan stayed by his injured mate’s side after she was hit by a car, refusing to leave her even as people walked by without stopping to help.
The heartbreaking scene was captured in a video shared by the YouTube channel Pets In Love. The male dog can be seen sitting quietly, watching over his motionless partner, clearly distressed and unsure of what to do. Though his cries for help went unanswered at first, he never gave up.
Eventually, a kind passerby approached and offered a shirt to provide some comfort to the injured dog. Remarkably, the male dog took the shirt and gently covered his partner with it, using it as a blanket while they waited together for help. A rescue team was called and soon arrived on the scene.
Rescuers gently gained the trust of both dogs and brought them to a veterinary clinic for urgent care. The female dog, later named Ruby, received treatment while her faithful companion, now named Max, remained in the room throughout the process, never taking his eyes off her.
As Ruby began her recovery, the bond between the two dogs only grew stronger. Ruby regained the ability to walk after a month of rest and care, with Max by her side every step of the way.
In a happy twist to their emotional journey, Max and Ruby were adopted together and now live in the United States. Pets In Love reports they’re “living a wonderful and happy life,” a beautiful ending for two dogs whose story touched millions.
