Owning a pet involves a serious commitment and a lot of responsibility, as these animals depend entirely on their owners for their safety and well-being. This was painfully illustrated in a recent incident involving a German Shepherd in Egypt.
Local residents in Egypt witnessed a terrifying scene when they saw a German Shepherd dangling precariously from a balcony.
Thanks to the quick actions of concerned citizens, the dog was rescued just in the nick of time.
When they arrived on the balcony, they found not just the dog in distress, but also a shocking situation. The dog, left alone, was tied up with no access to food or water for days. Desperate, it had tried to escape its dire circumstances by leaping from the balcony. Tragically, it was caught by a chain around its neck, leaving it choking and struggling.
Being three stories up, even without the chain, the fall could have caused severe injury. Luckily, the dog’s distress calls were heard by a passerby, who rushed to help. He found a neighbor already attempting a rescue, and together they managed to lift the dog to safety.
Upon closer inspection, they discovered deep cuts on the dog’s neck caused by the chain. The living conditions were appalling, with the dog surrounded by its own waste and no food or water in sight.
The dog was immediately taken to the Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals. There, it received medical attention for its injuries and any illnesses it might have contracted during its ordeal. After receiving essential treatment, including the care needed to heal its wounds, the dog began its journey to recovery.
In a few weeks, the German Shepherd, now named Bella, was fit enough to be relocated. She was sent to the Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation shelter and then flown to the United States. Her new adoptive family was ready to give her the loving home she deserved.
Bella has not only recovered physically, but she has also blossomed in her new surroundings. She’s become a cherished companion to her new family, thriving in the warmth and affection that was missing during her time on the balcony.
