A dog found in Lahore’s Chadara town was initially thought by locals to be pregnant. However, when veterinarians reviewed videos of the dog, they realized she was suffering from a condition far more serious than pregnancy and needed urgent attention.
The dog’s abdomen was severely swollen, likely due to fluid accumulation caused by liver or kidney failure, although conclusive tests were needed to determine the exact cause.
This was a crisis as the dog was in severe pain, growing weaker and more lethargic with every passing minute. Quick assessments including x-rays, blood tests, and fluid analysis were conducted by her rescuers, who awaited the results anxiously.

Meanwhile, veterinary staff began draining the excess fluid from her abdomen in an effort to provide immediate relief.
The amount of fluid extracted was substantial, measuring about 10 liters. As the fluid was removed, the dog’s bones became more prominent, revealing the extent of her discomfort.
Remarkably, once the fluid was drained, she started to relax and even fell asleep, finally experiencing relief after enduring months of agony.

“I’ll stay here at the clinic with her,” one of the vets reported, observing the progress as more fluid was collected. The vet reassured that they would provide updates on the dog’s condition.
Named Fufy by her caretakers, the dog is now on the road to recovery and showing significant improvement. She’s begun to play and has even started making new friends, slowly shedding the trauma of her past life on the streets.
Fufy is now rediscovering her playful spirit, embodying the happiness she truly deserves after all she has been through.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who supported Fufy throughout her journey to recovery, united in compassion and care.
