Sweet Dog Who’s Been To Over 30 Adoption Events Still Holds Out Hope For A Family

For six years, Cleo has been attending adoption events—over 30 in total—yet she’s always overlooked.

Despite becoming a pro at meet-and-greets, it’s still heartbreaking when she leaves without a family. Cleo’s foster mom, Vicky Ham, says people often admire her but don’t adopt her because she’s a large, 80-pound deaf dog.

Rescued as a puppy from the 2016 Louisiana flood, Cleo was full of energy. It wasn’t immediately clear she was deaf, but it’s never held her back. She understands hand signs, expressions, and flashing lights.

Cleo was adopted twice, only to be returned months later. She loves being outdoors, going on walks, car rides, and always has a toy in her mouth to share.

Though Ham once stopped bringing her to events out of discouragement, she recently tried again—hoping Cleo’s forever family would finally find her.
