On March 17, Animal Rescue of Anton received a call about a pregnant dog in need of urgent care in Coronado. She had been abandoned a few days earlier and was ready to give birth.
Although some kindhearted people provided her with food, others chased her away, forcing her to hide in a field near a busy highway. This left her and her unborn puppies in a precarious situation.

Fortunately, a compassionate woman noticed her and reached out to Animal Rescue of Anton for help. When the rescue team arrived, the frightened dog initially ran away, but her exhaustion soon forced her to stop.
The rescuers carefully approached her and offered food to coax her into a transport cage. Their patience paid off, and she entered the cage without much resistance.
A veterinarian examined her and determined that she was just days away from delivery. An ultrasound revealed she was carrying at least ten puppies, all healthy, though slightly smaller than average.
The mother dog had a slightly misaligned hip and was suffering from a severe parasite infection. The rescue team prioritized removing the visible parasites and followed up with a medicated wash to ensure she remained parasite-free.
Throughout the treatment, she remained calm and non-aggressive.
That night, despite some initial nervousness, the dog gave birth to eleven healthy puppies, six males and five females. The staff at Animal Rescue of Anton were delighted, describing the newborns as incredibly adorable.

These puppies arrived in the world on March 22, bringing joy to everyone involved. The rescue team encourages sharing this touching story with friends and family to spread awareness of the vital work being done to save animals in need.
