When rescuers first encountered Tootsie, they immediately tended to her battered skin by shaving her for treatment. She was administered medication for distemper and pain relief, but her overall state remained dire.
The stiffness in her spine and hind legs, caused by bone spurs, required consistent treatment, which posed a challenge compounded by her frail health.
Yet, through it all, Tootsie’s incredible tenacity shone through as she fought to survive.

<p>This inability was particularly heart-wrenching for those who witnessed Tootsie’s courageous struggle.</p>
