Odysseus, a young dog with a heart-wrenching tale, touched even the most hardened hearts of those who saved him. Only two years old, he was found in dire straits, tied up outside a church in Georgia – weak and severely malnourished, yet still alive.
Rescuers speculate Odysseus might be a boxer mix, but his extreme weight loss makes it hard to identify his breed. When discovered, he weighed a meager 28 pounds, with his ribs visibly outlined against his skin.
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, a dedicated local group, quickly took charge of Odysseus’s care, rushing him to emergency veterinary treatment.
Late in the evening on Sunday, the group shared his touching story on Facebook, writing, “Tears are streaming down my cheeks as I write this… He is nothing but skin and bones… This poor creature needs immediate rescue and veterinary care!”

<p>Anne Clark from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue shared with The Dodo that determining Odysseus’s personality would take time, but remarked, “I hear he is very sweet.”</p>
<p>Throughout the weekend, the rescue group launched an appeal for a foster home to help Odysseus begin his journey to recovery after enduring neglect and starvation.</p>

<p>On Facebook, they posted a plea, “We urgently need a foster home to help Odysseus recover. Can you open your home and heart to assist him?”</p>
<p>Their call was heard. Although Odysseus isn’t ready for a permanent home yet, a foster parent has already stepped forward.</p>
