People Are Roasting The Dad Who Complained About Disney’s $1,000 Breakfast

A dad took his family to Disneyland for a special breakfast with the princesses. What he didn’t expect was the kind of bill that would almost make him spit out his coffee.

John “Rock & Roll” Tolkien went with 3 adults and 2 kids to the Princess Breakfast at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. He ordered shrimp cocktail, mac and cheese, asparagus, deviled eggs, and roast beef.

The breakfast experience includes three courses and time with Disney Princesses, and the cost is $142 per person, same for adults and kids. That price doesn’t include tax or tip, which ended up being a big part of the surprise.

When the bill came, it showed $937.65 for the meal, including a $150 tip. Tolkien posted a photo of the receipt on his X account, and that’s when things took off.

The post got over 16 million views. People had a lot to say, though some pointed out it’s not exactly a secret that Disney food is expensive.

There were a few mocking him, saying things like “Sir, this isn’t McDonald’s.” Others felt like he should have checked the price in advance if it mattered that much.

Tolkien admitted he hadn’t looked up the cost before going. He said the food was decent and gave it a 7 out of 10.

He said: “Service was attentive and enthusiastic, princesses were all trained pro actresses and spent a lot of time with the kids. I enjoyed it. Kids enjoyed it, so I think it was worth it. The kids definitely learned some new words when I opened the bill, though.”

Even with the shock, he seemed to feel like the fun his kids had made the whole thing worth it. And now he’s got a receipt the internet won’t let him forget.
