The small community of Saucier, Mississippi, is grieving after the heartbreaking loss of six-year-old Gracelyn Vick, who vanished on Sunday afternoon after going outside to play. When she did not return, her family quickly reported her missing, sparking an urgent search effort led by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, local police, and volunteers.
Tragically, the search ended later that same day when Gracelyn’s body was discovered near her home. Authorities have not confirmed whether foul play was involved. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause of death.
The loss is especially devastating for Gracelyn’s mother, Vicky Lynn Hutcherson, who has now endured the unimaginable tragedy of losing three children. In 2021, her 18-year-old son passed away, followed by the death of her 13-year-old stepdaughter in a car accident in 2024. Now, the death of her youngest child has left the family and community in shock.
Neighbors and friends have rallied to support the grieving family, bringing meals, flowers, and words of comfort. Vigils and memorials are already being planned to honor Gracelyn’s short but impactful life.
