Baby Girl and 6-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Lake Michigan Alongside Body of Woman, 31, After Alleged ‘Domestic Dispute’

Three Bodies Found in Lake Michigan, Authorities Cite Possible Domestic Dispute

CHICAGO — Authorities discovered the bodies of a woman and two children in Lake Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 13, in what police say appears to be a connected incident.

A deceased female infant, whose age has not been confirmed, was found near South DuSable Lake Shore Drive at approximately 11:23 a.m., according to NBC News, ABC7, and CBS News. Several hours later, around 2:30 p.m., the bodies of a 31-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy were located on East Hayes Drive, roughly a mile from the first scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the identities of the three victims. Police told reporters that the deaths are believed to be related and may have resulted from a domestic dispute.

Authorities emphasized that no suspects are currently being sought as the investigation continues. Autopsy results are pending, and further details are expected as the case develops.

Authorities from the Chicago Police Department and the Evanston Fire Department were contacted for further comment but did not immediately respond. The discovery came just hours before crews recovered the body of a missing swimmer from Lake Michigan on Saturday, ABC7 reported.

Authorities received a report around 7 p.m. of three men struggling in the water near 2611 Sheridan Road. While bystanders were able to rescue two of the swimmers, the body of the third was recovered at approximately 9:40 p.m.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones,” Evanston Fire Chief Paul Polep said in a statement, according to ABC7. “This is a constant reminder that these waters are dangerous, and people should always heed posted no-swimming signs. We also thank our regional partners, including MABAS Division 3, the Coast Guard, and the Chicago Fire Department, for their swift assistance.”
