As Venus Williams prepares to walk down the aisle, tennis icon Serena Williams has taken on the role of unofficial fashion and beauty advisor.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, the 23-time Grand Slam champion opened up about her frequent calls with her sister, who announced her engagement to Andrea Preti in July. The pair also discussed their new podcast, Stockton Street, during the interview.
“We talk every day now because we have so much going on. Well, let me rephrase that. Venus has so much planning that she’s doing that I’m just talking to her all the time,” Serena, 43, told PEOPLE in the days leading up to the podcast’s release on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
From wardrobe choices to hairstyles, Serena is fully immersed in helping ensure Venus’ special day is flawless, revealing that managing her sister’s beauty looks alone involves “literally 14 hairstyles.”
The retired tennis star did not go into detail about all of Venus Williams’ wedding plans, but she confirmed that her sister, 45, has been relying on her extensively for styling and organization.
“‘Can you help me arrange this? Can you call?’” Serena recalled of Venus, who confirmed her engagement to fiancé Andrea Preti in July 2025 after first being linked to him the previous year. “I’m the person that gets things done.”
Serena, a mother of two, also shared some of the specific requests Venus has made. “She wanted me to help her with some dresses, or was it hairstyles?” Serena said, highlighting her ongoing role in ensuring her sister’s wedding preparations run smoothly.
Serena Williams shared just how hands-on she has been in helping her sister Venus with wedding preparations. “She wanted literally 14 hairstyles — and she was like, ‘What do you think?’” Serena said of her soon-to-be-wed sister. She added, “So she sent me her options and within 30 minutes I had them not only done, but in a PDF file showing what hairstyle looked best on everyone.”
Drawing on her organizational skills from the business world, Serena explained, “So I pulled out my computer because I work in [venture capital] and you just got to get things done.” The tennis champion added venture capitalist to her résumé in 2022 with the launch of Serena Ventures, which invests in women-led consumer brands and software.
“I’m the person that arranges things, I’m like the planner. I plan everything like the event,” she emphasized. “I’m the person that gets things done.”
Meanwhile, Venus Williams, who spoke with PEOPLE just a day before her sister’s interview, revealed that the siblings “definitely share a lot” about their personal lives on their new podcast, Stockton Street.
“We dive right in, which is major,” she teased, hinting at candid conversations about their dating experiences and other behind-the-scenes insights.
Venus Williams confirmed her engagement to Andrea Preti in July 2025, putting an end to months of speculation. During a post-match interview, she revealed, “My fiancé is here, and he really encouraged me to keep playing. He’s never seen me play.”
Since their initial public link, the couple has largely kept their relationship private, though they were spotted together in January 2025. That same month, Venus shared a selfie on her Instagram Stories from a vacation in the Bahamas with Preti, describing him as “the best company.”
