A Missouri high school student and TikTok star made history by being crowned the state’s first-ever male homecoming queen. Zachary Willmore, who is a senior at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, identifies as gay. He was polled by his followers on social media on whether he should run for homecoming queen of the king, and the figures did not lie.
‘They thought Queen could look prettier on the stash’- he mentioned to media outlet KOMU. ‘So I chose Queen!’
Naturally, the moment that his name was announced on air was caught by the cameras, and he shared that same video with his millions of followers. Now, it’s got more than 3 million views and more than 769k likes. But perhaps not from parents and online trolls who did not love the break in tradition.
Meanwhile, one TikTok user commented on how Willmore took a little girl’s dream away, and fired back by mentioning that it was a little boy’s dream as well. He kicked off that video with a little bit of sass and mentioned, ‘Before I start this video, let me just put on my crown that I won fair and square because homecoming is quite literally a popularity contest’- he added.
