Kim Kardashian has addressed the controversy surrounding her daughter North West’s recent TikTok videos with a simple, five-word response.
The 12-year-old appeared over the weekend sporting faux tattoos, blue contacts, and a septum-style piercing in several clips shared on her joint TikTok account with her famous mom. North’s friends also joined in on the playful look, featuring braided hairstyles, vibrant hair extensions, and bold accessories.
North completed the edgy aesthetic with oversized clothing, sneakers, dramatic lashes, silver jewelry, grillz, and scripture-style designs under her eyes. She captioned one video: “Fake piercings and fake tatts 4 life.”
Too young for tattoos and piercings?
The videos sparked a wave of comments from social media users who argued that North was “too young” for such a look.

One comment read: “She’s 12 years old by the way,” while another added: “How about go be a kid.”
However, many defended the preteen, noting the timing just before Halloween, when children often experiment with costumes and dramatic styles.
Kim shut down the outrage with her viral TikTok comment, writing: “This is such a non-issue” accompanied by a crying emoji, reinforcing her stance on her daughter’s creative expression.
Parenting in the public eye
This isn’t the first time Kim has faced scrutiny for North’s appearance. Fans recently criticized her for letting North wear a dermal piercing during a trip to Rome, which the reality star called a “learning moment.”
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kim reflected on parenting a preteen under public scrutiny: “I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world. As a mom, you’re kind of like learning at the same time.”
Kim also praised North’s confidence and maturity: “She’s really mature in one sense where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care that they don’t like… my blue hair or this or that. She’s really confident.’”
Kanye West weighs in
North’s father, Kanye West, previously responded to similar concerns regarding his daughter’s public appearances. He spoke about his desire to protect North from being exploited: “I’m not allowing my daughter to be used by TikTok, to be used by Disney. I have a say so!”

He also spoke about the challenges of co-parenting, noting that custody arrangements often favor mothers: “There’s no such thing as 50/50 custody in society today … it always leans towards the mom.
“But right now, I’m happy that you guys got to see just a small piece of what I dealt with.”
