Kenny Chesney reopens old wounds as Renée Zellweger carries baggage from their DISASTER union.

Kenny Chesney Opens Up About His Short-Lived Marriage to Renée Zellweger — and She Reportedly Isn’t Pleased

Renée Zellweger has largely avoided discussing her whirlwind 2005 marriage to Kenny Chesney — a union that lasted just four months before being annulled under the legal term “fraud,” a word the former couple later clarified was simply procedural and not an accusation.

But in his new memoir, Chesney, 57, breaks years of silence and offers insight into why the relationship didn’t survive. Reflecting on his mindset at the time, the country star writes that his music career “consumed” him and routinely came before his personal life. “Any girlfriend… finished third or fourth, maybe even fifth,” he admits, adding that his relationships “always fell apart” under the weight of his work-first lifestyle.

The comments have reportedly struck a nerve with Zellweger, now 56. According to a source, the actress is unhappy to see their brief marriage revisited publicly after so many years. “Having that breakup attached to her name is humiliating and still bothers her,” the source says.

The two married in May 2005 after a whirlwind romance that captured widespread media attention. By September, they had filed for an annulment.

Neither Chesney nor Zellweger has commented further on the renewed attention surrounding the marriage.
