Keanu Reeves has shown off a noticeably different appearance, sparking immediate reactions online as fans comment on the change.
Long before Reeves became one of Hollywood’s most famous stars, he featured in a 1983 Coca-Cola commercial with his dark hair peeking out from beneath a bicycle helmet, years prior to his first film role in 1986’s Youngblood.
Over the years, that casual, slightly messy hairstyle became closely linked to the actor’s persona both on and off the screen.
“Long hair isn’t easy to pull off. But Keanu Reeves has managed to do it pretty much his whole life, making the case for a messy, straight-cut black hairdo that screams zero effort yet timeless appeal,” notes GQ, emphasizing how strongly his look has remained a part of his public image.
More than forty years after that early commercial, the recognizable style has evolved once more, and Reeves’ latest look is now causing fans to take a second glance.
New do
On April 8, 2026, the Canadian actor graced the cover of Parade magazine alongside Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer as the trio talked about their upcoming Apple TV dark comedy, Outcome. While the interview focused on the new project, it was Reeves’ noticeably shorter hair that quickly evoked memories of Speed.

For the photoshoot, the star of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure showcased a short, textured taper haircut, moving away from the shoulder-length style he has maintained for years.
This fresh look accentuates his facial features and is complemented by a neatly trimmed salt-and-pepper beard.
In the image, he’s dressed in a tan canvas jacket featuring a dark brown corduroy collar, layered over a simple white crew-neck T-shirt, teamed with faded blue jeans and a delicate gold chain with a circular pendant, keeping the overall styling straightforward and in line with his modest public persona.
‘Outcome’
The transformation is even more noticeable given how strongly fans associate Reeves with longer hair, particularly from his recent appearances in the John Wick series.
He has altered his look for roles in the past, but this latest change comes as excitement grows around Outcome, the film that brings Reeves back together with Diaz nearly three decades after they co-starred in the 1996 crime comedy Feeling Minnesota.
In this film, Reeves portrays Reef, who Collider describes as “the world’s biggest movie star” trying to revive his career after stepping away from the spotlight while battling heroin addiction. This role indicates a more intricate character development, and the physical transformation mirrors that evolution.
‘Looks so much younger’
As reported by People, the last time Reeves sported longer hair was in February 2024 while filming the 2025 comedy Good Fortune, and at the Saturn Awards that same month, where he appeared with a longer bob and a classic suit. The stark difference between those appearances and the Parade cover has sparked significant reactions on social media.
Fans quickly voiced their thoughts as the images began to circulate online, with many showing their support for the shorter hairstyle.
“MUCH better, Keanu. You’re looking quite handsome. Now we can really appreciate your features,” one user commented on Instagram.
“Keanu is looking sexy as ever. I love him with shorter hair,” remarked another, while a third added, “He looks so much younger with short hair (handsome).”
Changes in hair have often gone hand in hand with Reeves’ movie roles, but the long hairstyle he has maintained over the years makes any change stand out even more.
And even though the reviews for Outcome have been “disappointing,” Collider notes that the film quickly became a hit on Apple TV, reaching “the top position on the U.S. streaming charts.”
