It might be the longest month of the year, or at least it can feel that way when the days drag on, and streaming platforms tend to save the moment with fresh releases. When there is not much going on outside, a new show can feel like the easiest win.
Let’s be honest, this is the perfect time to get cozy on the couch and dive into something dramatic. And if you want a binge-worthy thriller with an “unhinged” plot twist, this is the kind of show people are talking about nonstop.
The thriller stars Jon Bernthal, known for The Punisher, and Tessa Thompson from Creed. They play estranged ex-spouses, news anchor Anna Andrews and detective Jack Harper, who share a messy history that never really stays buried.
Before long, the two get pulled into a murder investigation in their small hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia. As the case unfolds, it becomes clear that both of them are carrying secrets that run deep and could change how everyone sees the story.
“There are two sides to every story. Ours and theirs. Yours and mine. His and hers. Which means someone is always lying,” Anna says in the trailer for the six-episode mini-series.
The show is called His & Hers, and it is based on Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel of the same name. Fans of mystery stories usually love adaptations like this because they come with a built-in wave of theories and debates.
Over on TikTok, one fan posted a clip praising the show’s “absolutely unhinged, juicy plot twist,” and it pulled in more than two million views along with hundreds of comments. The responses turned into a full comment section therapy session for anyone who had just finished the last episode.
“Just finished watching. What a plot twist!!!” one fellow TikTok user said, while a second agreed: “Soooo good!! Never did I expect that ending!”
Elsewhere on social media, somebody else said: “I just finished this and all I can say is that this show is a very good way for Netflix to begin the year. Trust me when I say this, whoever you think is the killer is NOT the killer.”
They added: “That twist at the end is CRAZY!! If you’ve not seen this, run to Netflix to watch it.”
If all of that still does not convince you to give His & Hers a try, then it is hard to know what will.
At the very least, it sounds like the kind of show that makes people want to message their friends right after the credits roll.
