People might develop a “taste” for celebrities, according to common belief.
This often implies that they begin to enjoy all of the attention and praise that is lavished upon them. But not all celebrities are like this, and many prefer to keep things low-key.
During an interview with 60 Minutes earlier this year, Emily Blunt identified Cillian Murphy as one such individual. She even referred to him as the ‘worst celebrity in the world’.
But don’t worry; this isn’t an exclusive story on the latest celebrity quarrel. She intended it as a compliment.
The interviewer replied to the Fallen Man star, “You characterize him as bashful and unable to receive compliments.
“Does he know how good he is?”
Blunt answered, “No, I don’t think so. Perhaps none of the great actors knew or would admit that about themselves.
“I get the impression that he’s always on the lookout for what else he can achieve and how far he can go.
“What would satisfy this creative fire in him? I don’t see him acknowledging his amazingness, as I believe it would be unpleasant for him.
This is despite his fame as an actor, having starred in shows such as Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer.
Blunt enthusiastically agreed when the interviewer stated that Murphy was ‘about the craft and not the fame’.
She stated, “He’s the worst celebrity in the world.”
“He’s the best actor in the world and the worst celebrity in the world.”
When asked about the ‘greatest actor in the world,’ Blunt stated that he was her favorite actor to work with. He’s unequaled in terms of his abilities and ability to captivate you. When you work with him, the entire room comes alive with energy.”
Murphy and Blunt collaborated on the 2023 film Oppenheimer, which followed J. Robert Oppenheimer, a physicist who designed the first nuclear bombs for use during World War II. Murphy portrayed Oppenheimer, while Blunt played his wife.
The film was a critical success, earning both Murphy and Blunt Oscar nods for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively. Murphy went on to win in his division.
Following the release of Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 20 years earlier, Oppenheimer went on to become the highest-grossing and longest-running Best Picture winner.
He has mastered the role of the ‘worst celebrity in the world’ as a famous actor.
