Kanye West has ignited controversy with his recent appearance on DJ Akademiks’ podcast, where he donned a black Ku Klux Klan-inspired outfit and a swastika necklace.
West has been a polarizing figure throughout his career, often drawing controversy for his outspoken behavior and provocative statements. His interruptions at award shows, such as the infamous 2009 MTV VMAs incident with Taylor Swift, sparked widespread criticism.
Over the years, he’s made headlines for comments on slavery, his public support of political figures like Donald Trump, and his presidential run in 2020.
More recently, Kanye faced significant backlash for making antisemitic remarks, which led to severed ties with major brands and collaborators. Despite his artistic achievements, his actions and rhetoric have increasingly overshadowed his music and fashion ventures, leading to a complicated public image.
During an interview with DJ Akademiks, West expressed regret about the timing of having children with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
West and Kardashian began dating in 2012, welcomed their first child, North West, in June 2013, and married in May 2014. They have three additional children: Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. The couple divorced in 2021.
In the podcast, West stated, “I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with her, but that wasn’t God’s plan.”
He also took responsibility for the relationship, saying, “Absolutely I did, that was my fault.”
This interview follows West’s release of the song ‘Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,’ featuring his daughter North and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Kardashian opposed the release, citing concerns for their daughter’s involvement.
In leaked text messages, West threatened (via Complex), “I’m never speaking with you again,” and, “Amend it or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You’re going to have to kill me.”
West’s recent behavior has drawn widespread criticism, including his appearance in KKK-inspired attire and use of Nazi symbols.
Critics have condemned these actions, with one person stating, “This dude just needs to go away.”
Another commented, “I would’ve ended the interview right there. An absolute clown.”
As of now, neither West nor Kardashian has made further public comments regarding these incidents.
