Breanna was in her car when she noticed someone tiny trying to cross a random road all by himself. She immediately pulled over — and watched a terrified little puppy dash into the grass off of the road.
“Why would you leave a puppy on the side of the road?” Breanna wrote on TikTok. “That’s just mean.”
She began trying to coax the puppy, later named Koa, out of hiding, but he wasn’t sure yet if he could trust her. She refused to give up and kept whistling, calling and talking to Koa calmly until, finally, he felt safe enough to come out.
“He finally poked his head out and came to me,” Breanna said. “He looked skinny and dirty with a lot of fleas.”
Breanna brought Koa to her car and drove him straight home. While in the car, he hesitantly lay down and kept staring up at his rescuer. It was clear he’d been through a lot and wasn’t sure who he could trust, but Breanna was about to change his life forever.
Koa got a much-needed bath as soon as they got home to wash all of the dirt and fleas away. He was still super nervous but getting more comfortable with every passing hour. Breanna decided pretty quickly that there would be no more uncertainty for little Koa — she and her family were adopting him. He was finally home.
“He’s definitely gonna be a part of our family now,” Breanna said.
Koa has gotten so much more confident and playful since he was first rescued. He loves his mom and is always at her feet, following her around, so grateful that she found him. That one moment changed his life forever, and now he’s thriving.
