In August 2021, we received a call about a small, injured puppy named Bongo. When we arrived to help, we found that Bongo’s back leg was in serious condition, with the skin completely stripped away, revealing the underlying tissue and muscle.
He also had several deep wounds on his body and a dangerously high fever, which made us uncertain about his chances of survival.
Despite the daunting situation, we quickly focused on stabilizing Bongo’s temperature and addressing the infection to give him a chance.
Due to his frail condition, surgery was not an option initially. Instead, we prioritized improving his strength and health.

Bongo showed incredible resilience, displaying a good appetite and a zest for life. After several weeks, he was finally strong enough for us to amputate his injured leg and effectively treat the infection.
Although Bongo still faced a long road to full recovery, the successful procedures meant he was no longer in pain, marking a significant milestone.
During the following two months, Bongo’s wound healed, although he experienced some bone softening issues in his legs. With the right nutrition and care, his condition gradually improved, and he continued to progress toward recovery.
Today, Bongo is thriving on three legs, even attempting to take on the role of “lawn mower” with great enthusiasm.
His initial uncertain outlook has transformed into a testament to the importance of rescue efforts, showing how critical care and compassion can change lives.
