On a seemingly ordinary day at Brighton Pier in Melbourne, Australia back in 2009, an unexpected event quickly caught the attention of nearby pedestrians.
Among them was a 20-year-old Australian model named Raden Soemawinata, who caused quite a stir by suddenly removing his pants.
The reason for his sudden action was soon revealed. Sue Drummond, who was out for a walk with her beloved Maltese dog, Bibi, faced a distressing situation.
The powerful wind, gusting at speeds of up to 96 km/h, swept small Bibi off the pier and into the chilly waters below.
In the blink of an eye, the unexpected mishap drew onlookers who were uncertain of what to do as they witnessed Bibi’s struggle in the water.
Unable to reach the surface on his own, the little dog’s chances looked grim. Among those present was Raden, who during this tense moment, decided to act.
Showing remarkable bravery and without a second thought, Raden stripped down to his underwear and plunged into the sea. Navigating the cold and uninviting waters, his sole focus was on rescuing Bibi.
He swam determinedly, managing to safely lift the frightened dog from the water and bring him back to the safety of the shore.
Upon returning to dry land, Raden reunited Bibi with Sue Drummond, who was immeasurably grateful for his courageous act. Sue continued to express her admiration and gratitude for Raden’s selfless rescue of her cherished pet.
A witness to the heroic deed noted, “Despite the potential danger of the deep water, he didn’t hesitate to jump in. His courage was truly that of a hero.”
