The 38-year-old had reportedly traveled to Turkey for the cosmetic procedure when he suddenly fell ill.
He was booked at the private Dr. CINIK clinic in Istanbul’s Besiktas district. Initial reports suggested the man’s health declined after the operation, but the clinic has since challenged that version of events.
Despite doctors’ efforts, he sadly did not survive.
Authorities have now opened an investigation into what happened, with reports suggesting it may involve claims of ‘reckless homicide.’

They clarified that the incident occurred during the preparation phase and not during the surgical procedure itself.
The clinic also stated that they had completed all necessary medical evaluations and tests ahead of time, and emphasized: “These assessments were conducted under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, and the patient was cleared for surgery.”
CINIK added that they are deeply saddened by the patient’s passing, and described what had happened leading up to that day.
“In July 2024, the patient had previously undergone a successful hair transplant procedure at our clinic, and following his satisfaction with the results, he returned for a second procedure,” they said.
“However, before the hair transplant procedure began and during the preparatory phase, the patient unexpectedly became unwell for reasons that are still unknown.”

The clinic also pointed out that they are a well-established institution with a long track record, having completed more than 70,000 hair transplants to date.
“All relevant medical documentation related to this incident has been submitted to the appropriate authorities, and the matter is currently being investigated by judicial bodies,” it added.
“Claims suggesting that the patient passed away during the procedure or that the operation was interrupted midway are incorrect.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) also told the outlet: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities.”
