You can’t even begin to imagine what this nurse performed for all the kids in secret every morning.
No one seemed to notice the little, silent ritual this nurse performed every day. Parents passed by without really noticing, preoccupied with their everyday activities. Until the mother of a young girl eventually looked more closely one day. She was extremely struck by what she found. After learning what this mother was doing for every child on a daily basis, she was unable to remain silent. It is impossible to imagine what she did in secret for EVERY child.
…The mother waited later than normal that morning and witnessed the nurse tenderly touching her daughter’s forehead. It wasn’t a temperature check or a medical gesture. No.
It was a gentle motion, almost maternal, and full of uncommon care. There was a faint murmur coming from the woman in blue. The mother became aware that the nurse was singing as she drew closer. A lullaby.

But it was vital to her. She added it was important to remind these kids that they were more than just patients, as they were frequently confined to stillness and machinery. First and foremost, they were children. They could sense it even if they didn’t react.
Overwhelmed by this infinitely tender scene, the mother chose to share it. She claimed it wasn’t to become viral but rather to pay tribute to this unseen woman who, every day, added a tiny piece of humanity to a place that is so frequently rife with suffering and anxiety.

Today, a plaque was put up at the pediatric ward’s entrance. It has neither a degree nor a title. “To the one who also healed the soul” is all that is needed.
