I woke up and noticed some strange white specks in my bed. My first thought was—probably my husband ate in bed again and spilled rice or something similar. I was about to just brush them off, but then I decided to take a closer look. 😱😱
The longer I looked, the stronger a strange sense of dread grew inside me. These “specks” were tiny, oval, and shiny… And then I saw something moving inside one of them.
Horror gripped me. I grabbed my phone and started searching online. My heart stopped when I realized what it was… 😱😱 Be careful if you notice something like this at home…
It turned out to be bedbug eggs.
📌 What I learned: Bedbug eggs are tiny, about 1 mm, white, oval, shiny, and look like grains of rice. A female bedbug lays them in hidden spots: in mattress seams, behind baseboards, and in furniture cracks.
Within 6–10 days, the larvae hatch and start feeding on blood. Bedbugs rarely transmit diseases, but their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, irritation, and sleeplessness.
📌 Where they come from: They can be accidentally brought home in a suitcase after a trip, or come with second-hand furniture or belongings.
They can also migrate from neighbors through ventilation or wall cracks.
📌 How to get rid of them: Perform a deep cleaning, vacuum all seams, cracks, and joints. Wash bedding and clothes at a temperature of at least 60 °C.
Use a steam cleaner on mattresses and furniture. Contact a professional pest control service—otherwise, bedbugs are likely to return.
Now I understand—if I hadn’t noticed these “specks” today, in a week my home would have been overrun with these pests.
