First Lady Melania Trump reportedly formed quite the bond with Princess Kate Middleton during her recent trip to the U.K.
President Donald Trump and his wife, 55, made their second state visit to the U.K. earlier this month. Melania stepped out with Kate, 43, for a “warm and friendly” outing on Thursday, September 18, per Hello! Magazine in a story published on Tuesday, September 23., which allowed the women to spend ample time together.
While meeting members of the U.K. Scouts’ Squirrels program at Frogmore Gardens, Kate and Melania “were chatting away,” an insider shared, noting that Melania was “relaxed” during the outing, in which the youngsters earned their “Go Wild” badges after learning about nature.
Separate insiders told Hello! that this outing was the “highlight” of the U.K. trip for Melania.
“It’s definitely the start of what looks set to be a very warm, long-term relationship between Kate and Melania,” one source shared with the outlet. It’s worth noting that during their visit, —both women stepped out in matching earth-toned looks.
Chief Scout and TV host Dwayne Fields was onsite for the event, detailing the fast friendship between Kate and Melania. (He noted that Melania called her U.K. trip “amazing” as they chatted.)
“From what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to go away and collaborate on something in the U.S.,” he told the publication. “Having Princess Catherine as our joint patron means that lots of options are open, and I wouldn’t take anything off the table when it comes to some kind of joint project or some kind of initiative with the U.S. Scouts.”
While Melania’s trip to the U.K. seemed to be a joyous one, all eyes were on Kate during the state banquet hosted at Windsor Palace the night before.
Royal author Ingrid Seward praised the Princess of Wales’ stunning look at the event, which included speeches from both her father-in-law King Charles III and President Trump. Kate was seated next to Trump during the dinner, wearing a floor-length silk gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley paired with the Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.
“She lightened the whole evening,” Seward told People during a Monday, September 22 interview. “She lit up the table with a megawatt smile. There was a lot of pressure on her.”
She added, “She never looked as good as she did the other night. She looked magnificent. She looked golden, and it’s definitely the best I’ve ever seen her look at a state banquet.”
