The news that Prince Harry voluntarily left the charity he founded, Sentebale, last week shocked many. This project, which the Queen’s grandson established in 2006 in memory of his beloved mother, Princess Diana, was something he described as “one of the closest to his heart.” In an official statement explaining his decision, Harry revealed that he was forced to step down due to a conflict with the organization’s president, Dr. Sophie Chandauka. And now, the cause of this conflict has been revealed. According to 42-year-old Sophie, a lawyer by training, Meghan Markle should be blamed for the downfall of the project.
Chandauka, who was born in Zimbabwe, began working for Sentebale in 2008. She claims that back in 2020, when Meghan and Harry stepped down from their official royal duties and started giving provocative interviews, she realized that the scandals caused by the couple were damaging the project. According to her, they led to the departure of several important sponsors. Later, Prince Harry, as Sophie asserts, tried to commercialize the charity, which was unacceptable. But when Harry demanded that Sophie start supporting Meghan, who was being criticized for her remarks about the royal family, it became the final straw for Chandauka.
Sophie firmly refused. She did not want to become, as she put it, “part of the PR team for the Prince and Duchess.” However, in response to her refusal, Harry made Sophie’s work at the organization unbearable. But instead of resigning, as the Prince had hoped, she decided to stay and defend herself by suing Harry. Now, she accuses him of sexism, bullying, and racism. In this way, the racism allegations Harry once made against royal family members have come back to him like a “boomerang.”
