My mother-in-law asked me to wear a wig at her daughter’s wedding after my chemotherapy – Then my husband did something that shocked everyone

After my chemotherapy, my mother-in-law asked me to wear a wig to her daughter’s wedding. My husband then astonished everyone by doing something unexpected.

I’m Laura, 34, and Mark is my husband. It’s been a nightmare this year. I lost my eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair because of cancer. At times, I was unable to even look in the mirror. Mark, however, remained with me. He said, “You are still beautiful,” after shaving his head the day my hair fell out. I still own you. 😊

Next was my mother-in-law, Sophie. Before her daughter’s wedding, she got me a wig since she was so fixated on appearances and thought my bald head would mar the pictures with all the photographers there.

I mentioned this to Mark. Indignant, he retorted, “She wants a show? She will never forget the one we give her. 😱

The wedding day finally came. Sophie’s smile vanished as soon as we walked in. Her cheeks flushed, and she looked down at my bald head, trying to figure out who had seen. Her hand was shaking as she held her wine glass. 😱

Despite the uncomfortable supper, Mark held onto my hand the entire time. Sophie then added, “Tonight, I’m proud of how we presented ourselves, but…” during the toasts.

Mark got up and squeezed my hand. and everyone was shocked by what he said 😱😱

Without a scarf or wig, I showed up in a black dress on the wedding day 😱. Mark showed his appreciation by kissing my bald head in front of everyone while wearing a tuxedo and no tie. 😱

Sophie got up and said, “Family is everything,” while holding a champagne flute. And I’m proud of the decency, grace, and pride with which we carried ourselves tonight. However,

I tightened my jaw. She started to chastise me, but Mark cut her off.

“It’s time to be honest after listening to my mom talk about ‘family pride.’”

There was silence in the room. When my mother visited my wife, who had recently completed chemotherapy, she advised her to wear a wig to the wedding. Julia didn’t want a bald woman in her family photos, not because she wanted to.

Sophie’s face turned white. “That’s not what I—” said Mark.

“No, mom,” he interrupted. “You made an attempt to disgrace the woman who is battling for her life. That is cruelty, not pride. I’m also pleased with my wife. Except for the bride, she is stronger, more attractive, and alive than everybody else here.

There was silence, followed by a burst of applause. Uncle David began to clap, and soon everyone was following suit.

Mark kissed me on the cheek while I sobbed in silence. He wasn’t finished, though. You informed Julia that she “would never be enough,” Mom. Well, you were mistaken. She is everything. Additionally, you will never be able to compete with a woman like her.
