It’s difficult to imagine Rolf Buchholz was once a merely average office worker when you look at him now.
Rolf, who is originally from Dortmund, Germany, obtained a degree in telecommunications from a university and spent several years working for a large IT company.
He was silent and nearly unnoticeable. However, he had a deeper desire for autonomy, self-expression, and defiance of social norms.
After he turned forty, he got his first tattoo. The first piercing followed. Then the second. This was the start of a quest that would ultimately result in a world record.
Rolf currently has more than 560 piercings, including 278 in his intimate areas and more than 170 on his face.
His split tongue, horn-shaped subdermal implants in his forehead, and nearly tattooed torso further accentuate his image.
He became the “person with the most body modifications” and set a Guinness World Record as a result of all of this.
For Rolf, however, it goes beyond appearances and records. He claims that body modification is an art form that he wears on his body and a way to express his freedom. According to him, he just let the world see who he really is on the inside, not that he changed.
In fact, beneath the frightening exterior lies a bright, gregarious, and humorous man. He is quite friendly, speaks gently, and smiles frequently.
Reactions to his appearance are intense and conflicting. While some gaze at him with horror or revulsion, others do so with admiration.
He claims that airport security accused him of being a black magician, which is why he was even refused admission to Dubai in 2014 for “security reasons.”
