Jenna Ortega’s New Look Sparks Wild Speculation

Jenna Ortega showed up to a couple of recent red carpet events looking different, and now fans think something more serious might be going on. People aren’t just talking about her makeup or clothes anymore, they think she might have had surgery.

After showing up for season two of Wednesday, posts started going around saying she had buccal fat removal. That’s the surgery where they take the fat pads out of your cheeks, and it’s been a big trend lately, especially in Hollywood.

One tweet with photos of Jenna before and after blew up fast. It said: “Stop the buccal fat removal!” and got almost 51 million views.

The picture showed her face looking more hollow than before, with a visible indent in her cheek. The post added: “Whoever created buccal fat removal should be arrested and tried for crimes against humanity. It ruins every woman’s natural face and makes them look ghoulish.”

That kicked off a huge reaction from people online. Some said it looked like actresses were destroying their natural faces just to meet some Hollywood beauty trend.

One person said: “Imagine the brainwashing it would take to convince someone to do that to their face.” Another said: “Omg, she was so naturally gorgeous. Why do they all look like they belong in a Marilyn Manson music video?!”

Some people tried to be funny about it and compared her to Jim Carrey in The Mask or Edward Scissorhands. But underneath the jokes, a lot of people were clearly upset.

Fans started posting photos of other celebrities too, like Erin Moriarty from The Boys. She used to be praised for looking like the girl next door, and now people say her face doesn’t match the character anymore.

Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Lauren Sánchez also got brought up. Someone said: “Fat pads in the face are a sign of youth. Removing them instantly ages someone.”

There’s a lot of talk that this is part of a bigger trend pushing a skinnier, more androgynous look. Jenna hasn’t said anything about having work done, but the timing made people suspicious.

At the Paris premiere on July 31, she wore a dramatic brown gown with a deep V neckline and corset. She also had bleached brows, which might have been for a different role.

Her makeup was pale and contoured, which some fans said made her face look even more hollow. A few people argued it was just the makeup and lighting, but others weren’t so sure.

Some called it another sign of a trend in fashion where the goal is to look more skeletal or genderless. They said this was now showing up more and more outside of runways too.

Jenna wasn’t the only one getting this kind of attention. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were both criticized last year for looking too thin and too stylized in the movie Wicked.

People were worried about how those images might affect young girls who see them and think that’s what beauty is supposed to look like.

The person who posted the original viral tweet ended by saying: “I speak for everyone when I say we want buccal fat removal banned forever. We are tired of women suddenly aging 30 years and looking malnourished!”
